Design Comps

Mobile Redesign Directions

Four distinct concepts for the mobile app, shown in phone frames. Each answers a different question about what Lumenal on a phone is for. The top three (Daily Ritual, The Guide, The Deck) have been built out as complete test apps for the focus group — see Mobile Test Apps.

Concept 1 — Daily Ritual

The habit app. Home screen is "today": one daily card draw, moon phase, streak, tonight's scheduled session, a line from your last reading. Borrows the retention mechanics of Duolingo/Calm and applies them to spiritual practice. The bet: daily micro-engagement beats occasional deep readings for retention and subscription revenue.

Concept 2 — The Guide

The companion app. The entire product is a conversation with a named AI guide ("Séla") who knows your chart, pulls cards inline, switches divination systems via modes, and proactively opens conversations around transits. The bet: a persona with memory is more marketable and more habit-forming than a menu of reading generators — and it showcases the AI, which is the actual moat.

Concept 3 — The Deck

The immersive experience. Full-screen, card-at-a-time reveals with rich art, one gesture per action, readings as theatrical moments rather than scrolling text. Built around the emotional peak of a tarot reading — the flip. The bet: depth of experience drives word-of-mouth, App Store featuring, and premium one-off purchases (spreads, decks, reports).

Concept 4 — The Circle

The social app. Leads with connections, synastry/compatibility scores, and shared readings. Uses the existing connections + messaging schema. Shown as a comp for completeness, but not selected for the focus-group build: it depends on network effects (your friends must also install it), which makes it the wrong first bet for a small test group — and its features can live inside any of the other three later.
